Government

Friendswood is governed by the City Council, which consists of six members and the Mayor. The Council meets on the first Monday of every month to review matters such as budgetary spending and property rezoning.

If you wish to address City Council, there are public comment periods during their meetings (usually at around 4:30pm and 7pm). You can view the meeting agendas online through the City’s Website. If you wish to address a letter to members of Council, you may do so by delivering it to the City Secretary’s Office at City Hall.

Public Safety

In a recent study, Friendswood was ranked the 8th safest city in Texas. And that was no fluke, Friendswood’s violent crime rate is 0.21 per 1,000 people. Compared to the national average, 2.32 per 1,000 people, which is roughly ten times higher.
